A Building Occupant Awareness (BOA) Program is available
to students, faculty, administrators and other staff in order
to create awareness and provide the
knowledge that will encourage and support lifestyle action that results in
greater resource efficiency savings in university facilities. The program
helps the university community move toward a more sustainable
campus.
A BOA session is a 2-hour workshop that:
| • |
Provides an overview of sustainability principles,
practices, and how they relate to a sustainable campus. |
| • |
Works with participants to identify and discuss barriers
to accomplishing energy management activities on campus. |
| • |
Presents energy concepts related to lighting, electricity,
HVAC, and waste -- for example most people probably do not
know how much energy their computer uses during the day and
how much that costs FSU when these are left on, but not in
use. |
| • |
Dispels myths with regards to energy consumption and energy
management activities. |
| • |
Provides tools, strategies for managing energy consumption
in campus buildings. |
| • |
Fosters an environment of collaboration and
communications among participants for future support. |
